AMD A6 5400K + R7 250 Bottleneck?

Solution

I suggest you go for AMD A10 6800K(£100) Black Edition or AMD A8 5600K Black Edition(£68)
Both perform very well when playing games, the A6 5400K is not suited for games or intensive applications because it only has 2 Cores ,where as the processors mentioned above have 4 cores.
Yes it will bottleneck

It will bottleneck in games that require anything higher than a dual-core in recommended specifications. I used to own the A6-6400k with a R7 250 and I noticed bottlenecks on games like Dark Souls, GTA IV, and Battlefield 3 or 4 (more so Battlefield 4). Games like Skyrim, Blizzard games, etc. ran fine though. What do you want to play?

If you want next generation games then you will need at least an R9 280X or GTX 970/960.

However you need to upgrade the processor otherwise it will bottleneck,no matter what graphics card you put in there it will bottleneck.

I've had that APU (A6 5400k). In most games it will bottleneck the 250x. I'd look into a Haswell i3 for a CPU in the $100 price range. It will perform on par/better than the fx 6300 in most games and if you went with a H97 or Z97 motherboard you would have the upgrade path to Broadwell when it is released.

If you insist on AMD you could go with the 860k but your upgrade path will be limited.
