I want to upgrade the wireless card on an HP Pavilion 500-408a Desktop.

So the PC came with a wireless card in the PCI express mini card slot. It is Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn. Could I replace this with a HP BCM94352HMB 802.11ac 867Mbps Bluetooth BT4.0 MINI PCI-E card? I am not sure this is compatible with the motherboard.

I suppose there are also PCIe x1 expansion slots available. Will a TP-Link Archer XT3000E PCI-E wireless card function on this motherboard?

Thanks for any help.

Probably. Since this is a prebuilt, it is possible they have limited the allowable cards. I can't find any success stories of a swap.
If you do this, be careful with the antenna connections to the card. They are tiny.
