Is the AMD A8-3870K APU with AMD Radeon 6550 HD Graphics good for editing/rendering HD video? If not, can you recommend a video card that works under 300 watts?
My current setup is:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
System Manufacturer HP-Pavilion
System Model AY748AA-ABA p6320y
System Type x64-based PC
Processor AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 820 Processor, 2800 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 5.13, 11/12/2009
SMBIOS Version 2.5
Windows Directory C:\Windows
System Directory C:\Windows\system32
Boot Device \Device\HarddiskVolume1
Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB
Total Physical Memory 7.75 GB

I also have a very weak nvidia GeForce 9100 that isn't mentioned in the list. If it's worth it (I'm afraid of installing a better power unit on my computer, in case I mess something up or the setup isn't right), should I install a 500 watt unit to use the GeForce 560? I need to edit and render HD video as well as export Flash animation.

Thanks!

You should buy a 7750, which does well in video and flash with its great performance in opencl. They are extremely low power and will work no problem with 300w.

The A8 isn't worth buying over your current system since a graphic card upgrade will give you better performance for much less money.

The A8-3870K can only crossfire with a HD 6000 series card (HD 6670 is the fastest model for the asymmetric crossfire). With the HD 6670 crossfiring with the A8's HD 6550D, it has been tested to perform close to HD 6770.

This will also be good in Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, that sort of thing?
