Hi,

I am looking for a budget laptop. It will be used for some development activities (Java), running JBoss server, MySQL database, Eclipse IDE etc. Casual gaming purposes like Need For Speed etc. Just want to know if i3 3110M based laptops with Intel HD 4000 inbuild gpu would suffice my gaming needs. Also please tell me how these AMD and Intel chips compare to each other.

Thanking you,
Regards,
Vishak

- Asking this in addition to the rest is why you're not getting any bites.

Google is your friend: www.google.com

So is TomsHardware: www.tomshardware.com : check the charts, there's no point repeating the contents of an article in a forum post.

I'd get a laptop with an SSD, but perhaps not an Ultrabook/Slimbook.
- The AMD Slimbooks may suite your requirements better (as you want to work and game on the same unit).

I would not rely on the Intel HD4000 for gaming as Intel's 3D drivers are not always up-to-par, even if the performance is 'almost acceptable'.

For a driving game the HD4000 would be OK at medium settings I guess.
