I have the AMD A8-6600K and just while on deviant art and downloading the pictures the processor is at 100% with just a few (3-4) tabs open using fire fox. Is there a possibility of a virus slowing the apu down? or just the way the processor was designed.

A virus and malware would be my first thoughts, yes. Update your virus pgm and run a FULL scan with it. Then run a full scan with malwarebytes: https://www.malwarebytes.org/
