AMD A8-6600K vs Intel I5 2300 for general use

Hello all, thank you for taking the time to read this. I have recently decided to upgrade from my i5 2300 to a new cpu and was going to give my old cpu/motherboard and ram to my sister. But now she is concerned about the longevity of the cpu since it is an older one.
I've done some research online and it seems the cpu that's in her price range (AMD A8-6600K) appears to perform slightly lower than the I5 2300. The site I'm going off of is http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i5-2300-vs-AMD-A8-6600K Does anyone on here have any experience with this amd cpu?
Her preference is a cpu that will last her for at least 5 years or more for general use. Sorry for the vague info on what she is using the pc for, that's all the info I was able to get from her.

Just wanted to do a quick update on this. She does work from home and while I don't know what she does exactly I know that she uses multiple programs at a time which is why I was thinking of a quad core for her

For the price range of an A8-6600K, I would pick up this:

This will perform much better than either of those CPUs in most tasks, especially in most games and common tasks. The i5 or the A8 will have a slight advantage in heavy multitasking and stuff like file copying, but this is the CPU I would recommend, and is considered widely as being a very good budget CPU, and it should have a better level of longevity, as AMD's architecture is about 4 years old already, a bit below the i5-2300.

No, not really. Look at any benchmark, I especially like this site: cpubenchmark.net I can see the single thread-performance as well as all the threads performance in a score.

Single thread score translates to better gaming and overall snappiness, while the big score indicates the total load of all the threads combined. Notice how an Intel dual does as well as an AMD quad core.

i5-2300: All: 5228 Single: 1548
A8-6600K: All: 4699, Single: 1494
i3-4130 (i3-4150 is too new, not tested, but will be better) All: 4827 Single: 1978

As you can see, the i5-2300 is a good CPU, but the i3-4150 will overall be better. You should really be just fine with the i5, but if you want to buy, the Intel i3's are very good.
