Hello. I built my build with the A8-7600 3 months ago. For the relevant parts, I have an Ice Edge Mini FS V.2.0 CPU cooler, 1 back and 1 side exhaust fan.

I've been noticing lately in HWMonitor that idle temp is around 44 - 56C and gaming is around 64 - 80 (maximum temp I've ever had).

is this normal for my cpu? I mostly play Dota 2 and CS:GO on 3-6 hours daily.

I'm using the HWMonitor program. I'm also playing with its integrated graphics.

Try reading the temps with AMD Overdrive. I would blame that CPU cooler anyway. It is a low performance CPU cooler. It has only 2 heat pipes, a very thin heatsink and the fan is only 80mm and not a good one . The first thing you should do is to reapply thermal paste and see how it goes. Do you have an exhaust fan at the top or back of the case?

I already have thermal paste applied, and I have exhaust fans at the top back and top side. What is AMD Overdrive?

Thank you for your support :) What cooler would you suggest me for this APU?

Thanks. So, I tried playing Dota 2 with the settings I play normally (Ultra) and thse are the results.
HWMonitor: 80 degree celsius
AMD Overdrive Thermal Margin: 38.8 degree celsius.

I think I understand that Thermal Margin is the difference between the maximum operating temperature of the CPU and the current operating temperature? Correct me if I'm wrong.

You are absolutely right. The fact is , there is no way to read accurately the temperatures on an AMD CPU. Having the thermal margin at 38 C I would assume it's under load and you can only guess from there what is the real temperature. I would say it's pretty close to 60 C which is not good at all.

Thank you so very much for your patience with me. I have one last question.

I've researched the A8-7600's maximum operating temperature, and it shows that the max. is 71.3*C. If that is the Maximum Operating Temperature, subtracted by the 38.8*C Thermal Margin, would that mean that my actual CPU temperature is 32*C? I'm sorry I don't really know any of this stuff.

Thermal margin works in reverse. The higher the thermal margin is, the lower the actual temperature. So if thermal margin is 40C, the temperature would be at around 60C which is very hot for idle load. when you reach and get past 70C, your CPU will start to throttle and give you FPS drops and lag. A better CPU cooler will solve your problem 99%.

My idle load is only around 44-46 degree celsius. My only concern is that under heavy gaming load, the HWMonitor shows an 80 degree celsius temperature.

While gaming, the thermal margin shows 38.8 degree celsius. Now, in CPU-world, the A8-7600's maximum operating temperature is 71.3 degree celsius. Help me please?
