No its a quad core, can you download cpu z and see if that reports 4 cores and 4 threads?
It's only a quad core if you believe in AMD's module scam. For everyone else it's a dual core with 4 threads. The so called six core is a three core with 6 threads and the so called 8 core is really a quad core with 4 threads.

Its not a scam... Seriously, He even said that in CPU-Z its a 4 core with 4 threads.

If your not going to help don't comment.
When you [AMD] make claims that it's a real 8/6/4 core and it's not that's a scam. Only fanyboys are to blind to see the truth. As for his problem Windows OS is seeing it for what it is a dual core CPU with 4 threads sort of like hyperthreading, (notice I said sort of not equal to or similar too.) It doesn't matter what CPU-z or AMD says it's how the OS see's the harware and again it see's it for what it is.

You do realize he has the A8 3870k? That is a Llano APU based off the older Stars architecture. It is not based on Bulldozer or Piledriver, so it has four full cores with no shared resources.
To the OP, try going into your BIOS and restore it to setup defaults if the msconfig stuff doesn't work. Some AMD boards have had issues with CPU core detection in Windows. Resetting to defaults sometimes fixes it.

Thanks for confirming that, I thought I was going crazy or something...
thanks for the replies, well i went into ms config and the box was unchecked, so now im going to do the BIOS method, can somebody just give me a few steps for that, I just don't want to possibly hurt anything
For what I was saying go into the BIOS and most likely there will be an "advanced settings" section or tab. In that setion there should be an option for setting the number of active cores. Set the cores to 4 or all active.
