Hi All,

Here are my computer specs (Please let me know if you need more information):

  • Computer: Desktop
    GPU: Radeon RX 580 Series
    CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
    RAM: 24 GB
    OS: Windows 10 (64 bit)
    Motherboard: MSI z87 MPower
    PSU: Corsair TX 750
    Monitor Tested: ViewSonic XG2401
Games Tested: League of Legends, Discord, Youtube, and Rainbow 6 Siege
So ever since AMD 17.11.1 came out, I noticed the computer micro-freezing very frequently. In other words, when I'm playing games and talking to friends on discord, the whole computer freezes for a split second. Visually the frames look as if they are stuttering, and audio-wise, my friends voices are cut out for the duration of the quick freeze. But strangely when I watch Youtube, it only stutters visually, not audio-wise.This would happen around every 5 seconds or so, and while it is not something game breaking, it is very annoying when playing games. So I tried doing research online and the only thing I really tried doing was using DDU to cleanly uninstall past settings and then reinstalling the updated AMD settings (17.11.1 at the time). That didn't work out for me so I reverted back to 17.7.1. So now that the fancy new Adrenalin update is out, I had hopes that this bug would be fixed. But unfortunately, it is still here. Has anybody experienced problems similar to this and has resolved it? If so please let me know how you fixed it!

Here is some gameplay footage from 17.7.1 compared to footage from Adrenalin.

Also, for more information about how I did my DDU, I booted my computer into safe mode, then I chose the "clean and restart" option in DDU. I restarted my computer, deleted the AMD file, and then went to the AMD website to download and install the 17.12.1/Adrenalin driver.

Finally, I used MSI Afterburner to see if it could've been a hardware issue but it doesn't seem like it is.

I would like to keep Adrenalin because it has the "Separate Microphone Track" option. But if there is no solution to this problem then I will downgrade back to 17.7.1. Thank you so much!
