AMD AM3 Athlon II X2 250 3GHz

Hi all. I have a GeForce6100PM-M2 (V2.0) motherboard and I wanna buy an AM3 Athlon II X2 250 3GHz processor.. Can i put this processor on that motherboard! The motherboard is AM2+ socket and the processor AM3?

I'm not exactly shure what to make of this post! I'm asking becouse i'm not sure if my Bios supports the new CPU? Please explain to me like to an idiot

Basically it says that some AM2+ boards will support AM3 CPUs. Yours doesn't appear to. Check the list for yourself

Basically saying that it will work if the board supports it, but be crippled somewhat (slower HT Link speed than the CPU would be capable of on a AM3/+ board). Not a huge deal, but that's still a disadvantage.

Go for the Phenom Quad if you can afford it...

But yeah, looking at the support list and the BIOS updates (which say nothing about adding CPU support), I don't think that board will work with ANY AM3 CPU.

Could look out for a cheap AM3 board.... or reurn the Athlon, or sell it on Ebay...

Only missing an I/O shield.... but then you'd need DDR3 RAM....
