Question AMD and Nvidia GPU price drop?

I noticed that the new line of graphics cards from both AMD and Nvidia went up more than $150 form what they were before.

Is this because of a supply and demand issue? Will they return to their original prices?

Yes, it's due to supply being low and demand being high. Once they normalize, the prices will drop to "normal".

did you mean current street price is more than MSRP or comparable model cost more than it were in the past?

Kinda late to the post, here... but there's a major chip shortage going on right now. Covid related, we're told. I'm sure that has something to do with it. It's hitting all retail sectors that rely on semiconductors.

There needs to be a cryptocurrency crash before GPU prices come back down. Miners are getting AIB cards even before they get to regular distributors. People are forgetting how hard it was to get GPU's the last time ETH/BTC was running high.

i think its going to be a while before gpu pricing comes down. they're still rising across the board

I'm sure the miners are an equally major issue too, Maybe even the main issue. But no one's going to be building many graphic cards if there aren't enough microchips being produced.
Besides, checked the CPU prices lately? They've been slowly creeping up as well.
