AMD Approved Power Supply

I am running an Athlon T-Bird on a Powersupply that is not approved by AMD. I heard somewhere that it should be approved. My manual to my motherboard only specifies that the power supply should have at least 10 mA on the +5VSB where mine has 1 A on the +5VSB? is this metric where it would be good enough? i haven't ran it that much since i bought it, so i don't know if it effected by it??? does it have to be approved by AMD???

It doesn't HAVE to be approved, but of course, it's recommended.

Being AMD approved is more then just wattage and amperage. Since AMD chips produce a good amount of heat, an AMD approved supply will have exhaust vents on the BOTTOM of the supply (directly above the processor) to help remove the heat produced by the processor.
