Hello fellow Computer builders,

I've just bought all the parts for a glorified NAS drive to complement my big custom gaming rig, a laptop, tablet and 2 phones.

The problem...
I've ordered 16gb ram @ 1600mhz cl9 on 2x 8gb sticks but just discovered that the APU only supports one channel! What a terrible mistake! 🙁.

The mobo is a Gigabyte GA-AM1M-S2H which does in fact support dual channel, so I'm wondering what will happen if I connect both RAM dimms?

I know dual channel performs much better than single so I can't believe a brand new processor can't do this!

Does anyone have any experience with my situation rather than an educated guess please?

Many thanks,
Alan

Solution
Athlon 5350 Memory controller

The number of controllers: 1
Memory channels: 1
Supported memory: DDR3-1600, DDR3L-1600
DIMMs per channel: up to 2
Maximum memory bandwidth (GB/s): 12.8
ECC supported: Yes

You can use 2 sticks per channel.
Thanks so much Calvin. Obviously I'd of preferred dual channel but you've made me a happy chap that I can use both on the single channel anyway. Can't complain I guess :)

Thanks mate
