I can almost guarantee you that even if the AMD processor were a 3.0GHz processor, it wouldn't perform as well or as stable as a Pentium. One thing Intel did right years ago was the Pentium line of processors and while not all of them are great... the Pentium 4 (first marketed in 2000) can STILL outdo most modern AMD and Nvidia processors in terms of the perfect balance of performance and stability.
