I am planning to purchase a new configuration in the future and was just curious to see whether or not AMD's Trinity APU's are a worthwhile for a workstation geared towards virtualization. I would prefer not to move away from AMD since Intel is usually at times out of my budget, and that I would prefer to have more physical cores/$ albeit even if the performance doesn't achieve Intel's standards.

Thanks and plz serious answers only.

I would make sure to use a quality motherboard and power supply. 12GB of ram and a gpu depending on if your workloads are able to take advantage of one
If I was running VM's on an AMD chip it would definitely be an FX 6300/83XX. The FX's are faster clock for clock and the extra cores will definitely come in handy with that type of work load. Or one of their Opteron server chips obviously.

Alright I think the FX series will be my go to since I'll be running more than 3 VM's simultaneously at any given time. Is it possible you could provide me with other specifications I should implement into the build since this will be my first workstation specifically for work and school?

Thanks
