Hi

Can anyone tell me what are the "limits" of overclocking for Athlon 64 3500+
Newcastle 130nm core?

Is the Winchester version more overclockable being thinner and less heat
dissipating?

Any thoughts/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mine doesn't overclock well at all as any overclocking even by 1MHz results
in system instability and crashes.
I have heard of other people are having better results, though.

If just 1MHz causes problems then you already have a problem and I
wouldn't call that stable. I doubt if that's a cpu problem. More likely
ram, vcore (PSU), or HT. For ram, raise voltage by .1v or lower speed by 1
step. Up vcore by .05V or more. Lower HT 1 step. Make sure your PSU
doesn't have fluctuating voltages, then try again. The cpu should easily
run 5% faster, and should get closer to 10% or more. My old original 3000+
(default 2GHz) does 233MHz system bus even on this old board without a PCI
lock. Of course, I had to lower default HT and ram speeds and raise vcore
to 1.65v.
