I was just wondering what is the max operating temperature of an athlon ii x2 270 cpu. I read somewhere that it was 74 degrees Celsius and 62 in another place. What really is it?

I'm doing some overclocking and that's the reason I need to know

Solution
The TDP (maximum heat outputted by the CPU) is 65 watts so 65 degrees.
And also unless you have the "Black edition" of that CPU you wont be able to overclock it because its locked.
And if you have the black edition depending on your cooling I wouldn't go much higher than 3.8GHz on air cooling.
Hope this helps!

Well I'm raising the fsb atm. I'm getting around 63C at 3.85ghz. Are these temps too high?

Well I've backed it off to what you said anyway since, even though Prime95 didn't detect any errors, performance became worse at 3.85ghz. (I know that is a stability issue). I tested it with dayz standalone and within about 5 minutes, the game froze. So I've backed off to stock speeds and I'm going to try the oc again at a later date.

It shouldn't cause any problems...
Check your temperatures during overclocking use "Speedfan" and other programs...
Make sure its not going over 65 degrees during gaming and idling.
Otherwise your cooler may not be able to support overclocking very well.
If the tempratures are too high try lowering it to about 3.6/3.65GHz and try it then.

Well at the moment I use HWMonitor, I'm using the stock cooler (Yes, I'd love a good after-market one) and anyway, I'll accept 3.6ghz if that's the highest I can go. Every little helps!

1 more thing, if I pick a solution in this thread, will you still be able to see if I have any questions that I write about?
