AMD Athlon II X4 640

I have an Athlon II X4 640 sitting around used once.

Would this combo be the best option to get it working for just slightly over the $100 BUDGET (yes $100 is the MAX.. not $150.. not $200.. not 'get a second job').

get another 2GB of RAM, then Windows7 OEM.

Then maybe upgrade the 4670 and power supply ?

You should be ok; I'm using gigabyte and biostar boards for my amd regor and sempron; both work fine. One is nvidia and the other an amd chipset.

Doesn't the cheap nForce's equal borked/broke/screwed up SATA?

You should be ok; I'm using gigabyte and biostar boards for my amd regor and sempron; both work fine. One is nvidia and the other an amd chipset.

If I was to upgrade later, would something like a 5770 cover up the SATA slots on that gigabyte ?

65c, in spite of what you hear. Many folks claim lower temps; but think about it, some of those gargantuan heatsinks cost as much as a my regor cpu. It's overkill in my humble opinion. Look for an average of 45-50c.

Most people on newegg was saying about 30-34C doing nothing.

Not in Texas, where I live. Depends on your case airflow and what you're willing to spend. The stock heatsink is good for three years as far as warranty.
