What APU would the best to upgrade to, or CPU to upgrade to but then I need to get a cheap graphics card. So preferably an APU.

Upper_Management Reputable Nov 9, 2014 103 0 4,690 Feb 28, 2015 #2 It seems that you cannot upgrade to an APU because you don't have the right socket type on your motherboard i would recommend a graphics card anyway. Upvote 0 Downvote

Yes sorry, it has some ancient GPU in it that works, so what CPU could I use as a maximum option. Upvote 0 Downvote

The Athlon 64 X2 6000+ looks like it could work but you will not really get a difference for Athlon is pretty old. Upvote 0 Downvote

Are you sure there are no quad cores..? and that 6000+ is defiantly not an option because of the 125w TDP. Upvote 0 Downvote

They should be because AM3 and AM3+ are compatible but only AM1 chips on AM2 will not work the other way. Upvote 0 Downvote
