Hi there all,

This is my first post here on TH, so sorry if this is in the wrong place etc.

I homebuilt my computer about just over a year ago, and I am having problems with my CPU. When I turn on my computer, if I go straight into the BIOS, it shows a recorded CPU temperature of 70C (it starts around 30C, and slowly rises until it settles at 70), while my motherboard seems to remains at a stable 25-30C. I have had several issues with my computer shutting down recently while doing quite intensive tasks, and I am assuming it is to do with these temperatures. Could these temperatures be caused by a dusty heatsink (the case fans are clean, but the heatsink is looking pretty dusty), or do I need to reapply thermal paste (I have no idea how to do this as when I brought the cpu, the paste was already applied... I think).

Any help would be appreciated, Thanks :)

PS: CPU Fan is running at around 2000rpm, and case fans around 100rpm 😛
