Hey
Do you think AMD Athlon X4-950 its a good pair for R7 260X ?
Now i got an old i3 560 2 core / 2 threads and i think that the X4-950 its a good upgrade
Can you suggest me the best budget cpu for R7 260X ?
I want to move to 8GB DDR4 from 4gb ddr3 now and to get some good pairfomance
Dont really want to play everything at high but atleast to be playable

Yeah, it is a good upgrade. I would look into a R3 1200 though, that is were the performance is at.

Something else. I belive the athlon is based of the FX series but supports DDR4 and AM4

I think the athlon is a ok match, the CPU will struggle in CPU intensive games.

I really look just to compare the AMD Athlon X4-950 or the Intel Pentium Dual Core G4600
I dont care about OC or something like that
Just which platform is better for the money that i got
And like i said, just for gaming and not really mind to play at High. Just to get +30

Oh, well the Pentium beats it by a little, but its on a dead platform. So the Athlon is better in the long run.
And it will play games fine and 30fps Medium, Most games should be able to do medium/high at 60fps, just some games that are reliant on CPU power will suffer.

Oh, and Both CPUs are locked.

The G4600 is much better on top of using less power. Yes, its socket may be end of life, but you'll still be able to find new CPUs for it for some time. They don't just dry up immediately (if you choose to upgrade to an i5 or i7 down the road). Long run, short run - the Pentium is a WAY better choice than that old Steamroller core CPU. The X4 950 IS unlocked, but overclocking it still won't bring it up to the G4600. Not even close.

So you say i should go for the Intel platform?
Im mostly worried about the 2 cores / 4 threads of Intel vs the 4 cores / threads of the Amd
About futureproof i think with both i will be good. I dont usk for too much
So...going for intel with R7 260X?

Well. The intel Gives the best performance, but no upgrade path.
The athlon has a MUCH better upgrade path.

I do want to point out. The Pentium and a R3 1200 are nearly the same price
