First of all, it's Athlon not Anthon, please never say that name again, guhhh!
Second of all, please give us your budget limit, so we can help you find the best bang for the buck max performance. AthlonXPs are excellent, Pentium 4s are excellent when above 2.2GHZ and with RDRAM. But again we need your money input to help.

I want something that had a 2. Ghz or higher processor. Can you still help please. I currently Have in my VAIO a Pentium 4 1.30 GHz. I want more about 2x as much. Thanks!

Heh, if they did make the names a little different...the possibilites.

New!!!
AMD Anthon XP PIV+++ "The pentium crusher!"
Pantium IVb "It's an intel!"
Nvidia Getforce4 "Power at a price!"
Ati Re-adeon "Radeon with avengence!"

Ho, the names that could exist :O

You want to spend no more than $250 on the processor, yet want a 2GHz or faster processor... First off, there are no 2GHz (or faster) AMD processors. Their fastest processor is currently the 1.73GHz Athlon (XP 2100+). Are you willing to overclock if the result is completely stable? You can get a Pentium 4 1.6A and run it at 2.4GHz fairly easily.

Uhm...two things...there is no such thing as a pentium4 1.3, it doesn't exist that crappy (I hope =/). Next, you want 2x as much what? Mhz??? There is no such thing as a 2.6Ghz processor...it would be disgustingly expensive.

You want my two cents...Here it is then

AMD Athlon XP 2100+
Asus A7V-333, Via Kt333 chipset
1 Stick of 512MB PC-333 DDR-SDRAM
Leadtek Winfast Geforce4 Ti4600
Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
Klipsch Promedia 5.1 speakers
Windows 2000 Professional (don't respond to this if you don't like it)
Full Tower Antec Case
400Watt PSU, preferably Antec as well
1 52x CD-ROM Drive
1 32x24x48 CD-RW Drive
1 16x40 PCI hardware DVD Drive
(if you have extra money) 1 DVD-ROM/RW/R, not sure of brand
Viewsonic 21 inch monitor

Sickly powerful, but oh so expensive

Um one thing tho, I know it said not to respond if you don't like win2000 but would I be able to put Windows XP on that? (Sorry) But again thank you so much for all your help. I apreciate it alot!

There was a short-lived P4 1.3, but it was only made in socket 423.

ComputerGeek101, three questions for you.

What are you upgrading? Just the CPU, building a new computer, etc.

What's your total budget for the upgrade?

Are you up for overclocking?

Oh yuck...a P4 socket 423 only 1.3Ghz??? My gods, I bet my Athlon T-bird 1.0Ghz could beat it...well, i'd have to underclock it, it's currently at 1.46Ghz :)

Alright, you can get the following TOP OF THE LINE:

-Abit TH7 II Motherboard
-Pentium 4 2.4GHZ
-1.024GB RDRAM PC800
-Asus V8460 Ultra Geforce 4 Ti4600 (or any GF4 Ti4600 brand, since this one isn't out yet AFAIK)
-Sound Blaster Audigy Ex Platinum MP3 5.1
-10/100 Network Card
-Antex 400W Power Supply (not sure if P4s still need the extra connector?)
-40*12*40 Plextor CDRW (Yes, 40X Write, Read em and write em!)
-16X DVD, any brand. (you want fast read times with gaming)
-5.1 Surround System, from any brand you deem. I personally suggest my own, the Labtec Arena 530, but it's 4.1.
-Windows XP Home (Pro if you want server)

With this basic configuration which you can switch later on, you are guaranteed full power in any game you got, and will last you for 2 years for sure. You may later on get Geforce 5, or ClawHammer, but for now this one is your Black belt.
