If price doesn't matter you'll want neither. I know a couple of animators and they have Xeon-powered machines, which will give you the fastest render times.

Xeon or 6 core i7.

I recently built two rendering machines on the cheap with i7 3770k cpus(quad core). They are OC to 4.2 and still dont quite make the cut.

Dont forget to grab a professional graphics card as well.
