Amd catalyst control center not supported

So i just installed a new graphics card (nvidia gtx 970) to my pc. It didn't have a graphics card prior to this, and the only gpu i had was the built in one. My processor is amd a8 6600k. After installing my video card, and starting my pc up this warning came "The amd catalyst control center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your AMD graphics driver, or enable your AMD adapter using the Displays manager." Does anyone know what exactly I should do to solve this problem? I know it's telling me what to do, but im afraid to tinker with it, 'cause i might mess something up, so if someone could provide me with a solution with exact steps, I would be really grateful

Uninstall Catalyst Control Center from the windows control panel
Run Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html
Restart the System
Install Nvidia drivers

With your processor, you won't see anywhere near the full speed of that GTX 970. You'll probably be getting 18 fps less than what it can do.

You now have an Nvidia video card but you have AMD software installed. So AMD is saying "ERROR non AMD card detected". You no longer need that AMD software for your onboard AMD video.

First off go in your BIOS and disable the onboard video of your A8 6600k. Save and reboot into windows.

Now go in control panel in windows and uninstall AMD Catalyst Control Center Install Manager. You can also uninstall AMD catalyst control center if it's there. Now you can delete the AMD folder on the C drive. It's either under C drive or in program files.

Basically disable the onboard video and get rid of the AMD software you no longer need.

Restart the System
Install Nvidia drivers

yeah, i've told it'll get bottlenecked 🙁 but honestly, that's fine for now, since I plan to replace the processor soon anyways 😀

I would recommend NOT uninstalling the AMD Drivers. If your new graphics card should ever fail, you'll need them in place to use your system until you get the graphics card fixed. Catalyst Control Center shouldn't be saying anything about what card you have installed be it AMD or NVidia. Is this some sort of automatic pop up or are you actually starting CCC?

Also watch it. Some AMD drivers are required for the laptop. Chipset drivers and such.

He doesn't need AMD drivers installed and they are causing issues. If an issue does occur with his graphics card, windows will still be able to run windows on the generic graphics driver just fine.

If the OP were going to remove the graphics solution from the system, then yes. He should uninstall the drivers. However, since the OP has an AMD APU installed, he cannot remove the graphics solution and so the graphic drivers should remain installed.

The drivers are NOT the issue. The issue is with Catalyst Control Center. For reasons unknown (though I'm leaning towards AMD incompetence), CCC has taken it upon itself to attempt to control the default graphics device. Since that is now an NVidia device, it's throwing out an error message saying CCC is not supported. The OP hasn't stated whether it's an automatic popup (AMD/System Startup issue) or if it's the result of his actions (user error).

Could he not disable the onboard video of the APU through the BIOS and remove the drivers? In the future if his video card dies and he needs onboard video he can re-enable it and install drivers? In the meantime Windows generic drivers will work till he gets AMD drivers downloaded and installed.

You're absolutely correct, but that's patching an issue without determining the cause.

Seems to me the cause is he's using an Nvidia card without having first uninstalled the AMD drivers. So problem solved.

Again, it is not an AMD Driver issue. It is AMD's Catalyst Control Center that is the issue. Uninstalling the AMD Drivers is like removing an AC unit from a car because you're too cold. Would it resolve the issue? Sure, but it doesn't fix the issue.

it just randomly pops up a few minutes after i start my pc

Yep that's the solution. Uninstall and use Nvidia drivers. Enjoy the video card.
