Hello. I have a Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 mobo with a R9 270X graphics card. After a new windows installation and after upgrading to windows 8.1 and throwing lots of updates, I install the latest 14.9 catalyst drivers. I didn't find any chipset specific drivers from AMD besides an older catalyst version (14.4) which proved to have the same type of drivers (looking at the installation components list when ran the installer). So I downloaded the chipset drivers from gigabyte which proved to be jsut another older catalyst version but this time with motherboard related stuff like NB filter driver (besides the graphics-audio drivers), USB etc. But in the list where you get to choose which drivers will be installed, I can only deselect the motherboard related drivers and I can't deselect the graphics drivers. I don't want to install some old crappy graphics drivers. Is there another way to get around with that?

During the catalyst driver installation there is a point where you select which components drivers you want to install. List includes graphics drivers, audio (via hdmi on gfx card) drivers and several motherboard related drivers. There are checkboxes on most components that lets you select-deselect each one of them and install only those you want. But you are not able to deselect the graphics drivers, only the motherboard related drivers. So since I have already installed the new graphics drivers that AMD released couple days ago, I don't want to install older drivers over them hence I abort installation.

Oh I see what you mean now.
There isn't any other way around that.
If you don't want to reinstall the graphics drivers, then uninstall the AMD drivers completely and reinstall using the 14.9 update completely.
What I did is I downloaded the DDU to completely remove any AMD drivers in my computer and I installed the 14.9 update. But if you don't want to do all of that hassle, then I suggest just stay where you are. 14.9? I don't see any difference from 14.7 beta drivers anyways so it's just a good idea to stay where you are.

thing is that in the 14.9 package, I don't see any motherboard related drivers. Just the usually graphics-audio from my 270x.
About the DDU...I just reinstalled windows cause of one similar program that after removing drivers I couldn't log in windows

That will require using DDU or similar program which I am not going to since that's what made me format my drive in first place. If i don't use DDU I may get he same bug on my gpu where wouldn't utilize beyond 50%
