well, i just bought a new monitor ( AOC G2460P ) and when i go to my settings it only allows me to use 1024x768 @120 Hz.
can someone pls help me out and tell me how i can fix this, so that i would be able to use 1920x1080 in 120hz

btw i have a radeon 7800 graphic card.

Check your monitor's manual, there should be detailed which kind of connection is required to achieve the highest res with highest hz possible, I saw a similar issue here at Tom's where the issue was the type of cable used, since each cable has different speeds and throughput limits, you need to use the one that is able to handle the load 1080p@120hz requires.

I dont know this for sure with out looking it up, but I wouldnt think the gfx card would support that higher frequency at 1080p. The monitor seems to check out and the G2460PQU was reviewed here on toms. But 60Hz at 1080 is more usual.

if you think it should, best thing is to make sure you install the latest drivers for both devices.

Weird, couldn't find info regarding G2460P in AOC website, there is a G2460PG and G2460PGU but not the G2460P...

looking at info about the product in other websites, some point it's recommend resolution as: 1920x1080@60Hz

So maybe that product isn't able to give 144hz at 1080p, however, before jumping into that conclusion, which cable are you using to connect it? it's possible that 1080p@144hz is only achievable with displayport...
