Gigabyte GA 970A D3 v1.0
On the original cd of the mboard, i dont see the chipset driver[when i browse the cd, inside the folder named chipset i found a subfolder named vga and another one named 7series]
If i run the Cd setup, Xpress Install automatically detects the components that need to be installed[audio,network,usb,sata-raid] but it doesnt say chipset;
Besides the basic components[audio/network/etc] i see some additional-optional software such as Easy Energy Saver.EasyTune6,Cloud OC,AutoGreen,On/Off Charge technology and thats it.
If i surf to gigabyte driver suport website, i see the latest drivers-aps for my mboard : audio, chipset, network, sata, usb.
When i install the chipset driver it shows the next components that will be installed: USB,AHCI,Catalyst instal manager[this is just the manager that shows the amd
components installed] [not to mention that the "chipset" driver for xp has 550MB and the same driver for win7 has 125MB]
Where is the chipset driver? the components for the northbridge 970A and southbridge S950?
I understand that things changed since technology advance, but why is this so confusing? I am not a retard[i guess] but as i've seen on the many similar posts where other
people ask for help regarding the mboards with amd chipsets + nvidia graphic cards.
Does win7 "detects" and provide directly[without update service] the driver for the northbridge and southbridge? How do i know that my chipset is
running at maximum performance without the driver?
These are the steps that i know-use for building a pc system :
1. build the system
2. install mboard drivers
- chipset driver
- sata-ahci driver
- audio driver
- network driver
- usb driver
3. install graphic card driver
4. install other devices
I am aware that win7 is a good-stable os and it can run ok "out of the box"with some default temporary drivers, but is it too much if i want to install the proper drivers so my system can perform at high speed capacity?
my system: Gigabyte GA970A-D3 + nvidia GTX660[previous gcard:amd 6670]
After the removal of Amd 6670 i have uninstalled the graphic driver which removed all the amd components including the sound driver, catalyst control manager. I understand that the chipset is made by the amd but why would you do that? remove more components other than the graphic?
all i wanted was to remove the graphic card. In order to install the nvidia card driver, i am pretty sure that the graphic card needs to comunicate properly with the amd chipset, dont you think so?
