I'm looking to buy an SSD for my laptop and all I could find were SATA III SSDs. I know they're backwards compatible but I don't want to spend extra to waste all that performance. I ran HwInfo64, Aida64 and Sisoft Sandra, all 3 said that my HD is operating at SATA II, and that the maximum buffer to host is 300 MB/s. However, a quick search of my chipset showed that it supports 6 Gb/s SATA III. My hardware seems to support SATA III but all the programs thus far tell me that it only gets SATA II. Is there someway of reconfiguring that would allow SATA III performance? I've looked around on some forums and the internet and all I could find was instructions on switching between AHCI and IDE controller modes.
