AMD CPU/MoBo help please

Before I start here are my specs

FX-6300
ASUS m5a99fx pro
Gigabyte r9 270
Corsair CS650m
Crucial 8GB RAM
Hyper 212
Samsung 840 and WD HDD

I built this in May 2014

About a month ago I had problems where a red CPU_LED on my mobo would light up, preventing post.

I tried as many solutions I could find. Reseated the CPU, reapplied thermal paste, made sure 8pin and 24pin were alright. None of this solved my problem.

I even bought an Athlon II X2 215 for $15 on Amazon and replaced my FX-6300 yesterday. This fixed everything for a day. Today I got home, and my PC would not boot anymore, and the red CPU_LED is lit again.

I thought my CPU was dead. Now I'm not so sure. Is it my motherboard? I'm not sure how to proceed at this point.

Try pressing the CMOS button on your mobo, this resets the BIOS and can fix any software related issues on your mobo if you flashed your bios or OCd, which could be the reason it is not posting.

Pressing CMOS is what I did yesterday to get my PC to post when I changed CPU's. I did it again as you said and it kind of worked. It kept crashing after I entered BIOS and after 3 tries I'm back on.

Will I have to reset CMOS each time. I did this on my 6300 as well but that didn't fix it.
