amd cpu turbo boost

Hi all,

Recently purshased and install my AMD Athlon X4 740x processor, on the box is says 3.7GHz max Turbo and im wondering how i activate this?

At the moment is running at 3.2GHz Base.

Basically the turbo boost is based on what you're doing at the time as it will auto adjust up and down based on that. You won't be able to tell by looking at the task manger you will need to use a program such as CPUZ to see the changes.

Turbo Boost isnt something you turn on and off when you think its needed, its activated when you are running applications that for example dont take advantage of all cores and when the power comsumption and temperature is good, then the processor will increase the speed (MHz) on the active cores instead of using lower speed on all cores. But it should be done automatically and seamlessly when its possible to use. Just make sure that your laptop/desktop gets enough power and that the cooling is good for you to take advantage of the Turbo Boost feature.
