[SOLVED] AMD CPU which Chip will fit in the same slot?

I currently have an AMD FX-8320 3.5 GHz CPU with a high pressure Water Cooler on a Gigabyte 990FXA-UDS MB. Is there any next Gen AMD CPUs that will drop right in my Motherboard Chip Slot?

If there is a better combo CPU & MB that has at least 16 Cores with maybe OC as well, I may have to go that route. A recommendation would be of great help too.

I have an external glass one pint water tank so I can keep an eye on the water level.
I am using a three-fan radiator with a Temp gauge.
I introduced a 10" Silver Wire ( 16 ga. ) Coil to the water line going into the radiator to keep bacteria/algae down, so far it works.
I also have a UV LED in the water tank to keep things fresh.

I run the SETI-at-Home software whenever I am not using my System, so I want to be able to complete as many tasks as possible.

Any meaningful upgrade will require a new motherboard and ram also.

You really cannot upgrade your CPU at all with your motherboard or ram.

Modern Intel and AMD CPUs require different boards and newer DDR4 ram.

I have a $700 Budget for MB, CPU & Ram. I wish it was more, but that is what I am topped off at.

I have an old cabinet that I'll put the old things into just to run SETI 24/7.

Keep in mind that SETI will cease 3/31.

You could build a really nice base with a $700 budget. Easy choices would be 3700X, B450 Tomahawk Max, kit of GSkill RAM....

Thanks for the advice. I like your picks and may dig deeper for the Ryzen. As I get older, I keep falling asleep at my computer. That really Pisses me off to waste all that computer time. But a good System may be just what the doctor ordered. Thank all y'all for your interest & Help.

5 years from now , I suspect we will all marvel that this CPU is now only $119....

But, current prices of $739 for the 3950X should quickly dash any dreams of cheap 16 core combos...(outside of perhaps 3-4 year old used Xeons, anyway)

the 3700X combo suggested above sounds about right given a $700 budget...
