Title says it all, when I open Crimson it normally appears, but then in configurations I click multiple times in additional settings, but Catalyst Control Center won't come up. What do I do?

Solution
First off, WRONG, I've been running a 7970 and AMD drivers for over 3 years now.

Secondly, just because you assumed you were taken to CCC via Crimson doesn't mean you were. For the most part the GUIs look totally different. Plus it's not even possible to have both Crimson and CCC installed and running at the same time.

Thirdly, you've yet to even mention which driver versions you're referring to, or how you installed them (clean, or overwrite). For the most part, AMD drivers install best with a clean install.

While it's true that CCC was more of a problem getting it to install, vs Crimson, anything is possible when it comes to AMD's horrible installers. I've yet to not be able to work around finicky installs though, so I take issue...

But how come if before the Windows 10 update I could normally open it? Is it something with Win 10 not working well with CCC or the 16.5.2 driver update?

Don't know what you're referring to as CCC opening when Crimson is installed, but ever since Crimson came out, CCC is a thing of the past.

That said, it IS possible to install only the diver portion of Crimson, and opt out of the GUI, then install CCC over it, but I figured you'd not done that, because you'd definitely known if you did, and probably would have said so.

I installed it that way once myself, but saw no performance improvement, so I just use the Crimson driver and GUI now. It's also tricky to do, and I don't recommend it.

I tell you what, why not just take a screenshot of your GPU GUI, and I'll tell you if it's Crimson or CCC. My guess is what you saw was Crimson, and you thought it was still referred to as CCC. You might have to do a clean install using a driver cleaning tool first. I recommend Driver Sweeper 3.2.

Okay you didn't get it. You probably don't have an AMD card, so this Crimson driver changes the UI completely for better, and in it's early versions (and in my Windows 7) there is and still exist in the bottom a layer called preferences, which when clicked shows a few options, one of these is Additional Configurations, and when I clicked on that it would open the old (yes the old Catalyst Control Center) CCC which shows me the additional settings, mostly color and resolution settings, but also crossfire on/off.

I've yet to not be able to work around finicky installs though, so I take issue with you assuming I don't have AMD gear or am not familiar with how to set it up. This card also isn't my first rodeo with ATI/AMD. I've had a couple others, and have been on their product longer than Nvidia in all my gaming years. I also have plenty experience using the old Omega drivers that were made for ATI cards, so I'm fully aware of the pluses and minuses of all things ATI/AMD software, including the 3rd party tools that have been written, like ATI Tray Tools, and RadeonPro.

After an AMD GPU driver install, you should ALWAYS check afterward via Device Manager, GPU-Z, and right clicking the desktop to see if the driver installed, is showing the correct version, and has a functioning link in the context shell.

Your second point, pardon me that's what I mean, it used to take me to open me another screen with the old CCC.

I'll try your suggestion later, cleaning with the driver cleaner you told me. Thanks!

BTW I'm running the same gpu as you, just crossfired and ghz edition.

Again, it's not possible to have both the Crimson and CCC GUIs installed and working, so you must have assumed that other window was CCC, IF indeed it was the Crimson GUI it initially showed.

Had you taken screenshots of each and posted them, it would be easier for me to tell you what you were looking at.

you can have latest driver working, and additional settings too. butg they'l be different version which, doesn't matter anyways...
first i assume that you have amd's latest complete driver for your gpu,but additional settings won't work, right?
well, download and extract 16.11.5 crimson package to a random location. just wait until extraction completes and then stop any further installation. then go into extracted folders, find insallation file called "ccc slim" or something like that...install it to some another location,to safe location. then you can just use CCC.exe from that, working great in mine case and completely independent,no interference with current latest drivers. (crimson 18.2.3)
i hope i helped someone
