AMD Crimson Software Bug can fry your GPU!

Has anyone with the new Crimson software noticed how silent your fans are? Well it seems there is somekind of bug in the new Crimson software that locks your fans to 20% or even to 0% in a case on reddit.

I also had this problem when i was playing the witcher 3! The temp went up to 98c!

You can repair the fan speed by setting the crimson software to factory reset, but you have to do that everytime because the program puts it back to 0 or 20% fan speed.

So watch out everyone!

I thought it had something to do with using not uninstalling After Burner before installation. I hear that After Burner and Amd's software are not working right together and that is what is causing fan issues.

I was using speedfan to cool my GPU back to normal temps, and then rebooted my PC. It turned out the fans keep on spinning on my speedfan settings ( even when speedfan was closed ). After a factory reset in the Crimson software the fans started working normally again, also when my PC went in sleep mode and woke up the problem was back.

When Nvidia had a similar issue a few years back they instructed their AIB's to replace any cards that got fried, let's see if AMD follow suit.

Don't worry Nvidia has killed cards with several drivers and some were even WHQL..

Several? IIRC it was only the one, care to list the "several".

Several? IIRC it was only the one, care to list the "several".

192.75 & 320.18 WHQL are the ones I can remember off the top of my head..

Two is not "several" and I used both of those drivers without issue. The 192 driver caused an issue with some fan controllers but the 320 driver just seem to cause crashes, either way where are your "several" i.e more than two?

I had a 6800gt worked flawlessly, (hardly used.Bubble wrapped etc,)I installed it for a pal. Updated the drivers a month later and that was the end of that.
Another mate had the same issue with an 8800 gtx.

I was running SLi'd 8800GT's at the time but they had Zalman HSF's that were running off Molex adapters so I (and many others) were not affected.

Well AMD has posted a new version of Crimson with a fix to this issue.. Go to this website to download.

I think they released an update already, if you check their site
