Hi,
If anyone could help me solve this issue I would be extremely grateful.
Specs
Core I5 4440
Gigabyte B85M-d3h
8GB Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz
Gigabyte R9 280X Windforce edition Rev 2.0
Coolermaster B-series 500w
Sandisk 64gb SSD
2 x 500gb HDD
Switched out an AMD FX-4300 + Gigabyte 970a-ds3p for a Core i5 4440 + Gigabyte B85M-dh3, fresh install of windows 8.1 and now get constant driver crashes on the desktop. The system will boot and sit on the desktop with no problems. The crashes occur when i open a browser or try to install a program. The first install was the the most "stable" out of the three I've done, managed to install Furmark and ran the 15min burn in test with no problem and even the Hitman Absolution benchmark without a hitch. Since then the problem has gotten progressively worse to the point where I can't even get into Windows using the 280x. Never had this problem when using my AMD CPU+Mobo, it has been 100% stable for the last 5 months. Here's some things I have already tried so not to waste anyone's time.
Re-installed Windows 8 three times
I've tried Driver version's 14.6, 14.4, 14.1 all installed after cleaning previous driver using Driver Sweeper,
Updated Mobo BIOS from F9 to F13,
Disabled integrated graphics on CPU,
Tried with 4Gb of Ram (getting desperate),
Disabled ULPS
Tried to install Windows 7 but usb keyboard and mouse turn off at language selection screen, not sure if there if a way around that other than a ps2 keyboard which unfortunately, I don't have.
So far, that's all I can think of in regard to sorting this by my own means. If anyone has any idea as to what could be causing this, or would like anymore information that could help solve this, then please let me know.
Thank you
Edit:
Ok thought of another couple of things. Going to set up the amd cpu + mobo tomorrow and get that up and running to confirm there's no hardware fault with the GPU, if that's successful, on to a BIOS update on the gpu if itstill not working it must either be an issue with the motherboard or some driver error. I'll post the out come tomorrow. And, please, if you could offer any help it would be extremely grateful
