AMD Driver install Causing computer crash on startup

Hi all,

Recently my Radeon HD 6950 has stopped working, and I love this card dearly. I found out that it works and displays just fine when the driver is not installed. After I install the driver, I have to restart the computer, just as everyone does. After I boot into windows, the computer blue screens after 3-4 seconds. The computer works just fine in safe mode. Could anybody tell me why this is happening? Before it worked just fine, and it all started when out of nowhere it blue screened. Then it started to do the same thing. I'd be grateful if I could get it working again.

Well it's most likely a compatibility issue from the Ati/AMD driver. Simple solution just revert back to the previous driver and don't use the one your trying to install. There could be a issue or corruption with the driver for now. Wait it out maybe a week and see if AMD/ATI releases a beta driver to do a work around. But what driver version are you trying to install for the 6950. The 15.7.1 or the Beta 16.2.1?

I tried installing both, but none of them worked, same problem. I've tried the 12.x.x driver I had saved on my hard drive, and still to no avail.
