AMd drivers have stopped responding and have recovered

So i just recently built my first pc and i downloaded the latest driver for my gpu and my game crashes constently, i get this error in the bottom right hand corner of the screen, AMd drivers have stopped responding and have recovered . The time its takes to crash varies for different games. i tried multiple things. i tried downloading different drivers,i tried taking my gpu out then in, and i tried turning up the fan speed on gpu higher(seems to work for bf3 only, but will eventually will crash, but takes much longer compared to other games). I searched tons of forums, but non of them seam to have a clear answer. please help. im not sure completly but i think it takes games longer to crash if they're set on a lower video setting.

mobo: msi gd-65
cpu: intel 3570k
gpu: xfx double d 7970
psu: corsair tx 650w
ram: corsair vengeance 8gb
os: windows 7 home premium

also sometime when i play battlefield 3 i get this error as well as the first one, directx function "getdeviceremovedreason" failed with dxgi_error_device_hung: device hung gue to badly formed commands.. GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7900 Series", Driver: 13.1 (9.012-121219a-152192c-ATI). I pretty sure my gpu is broken and i need to get it replaced
