AMD drivers won't update to 16.12.1

I've tried using DDU as well as AMD driver removal tool to install a fresh version of my drivers but i keep getting the message that the drivers are partially installed. I checked the log and it appears that only the display drivers fail the installation every time. I decided to roll back the drivers to 16.11.5 but unfortunately I have the same issue and can only use 16.11.4. My gpu is an R9 390X. Hopefully I can get an answer to this question in the comments below.

1. Did you try running the installer as Administrator or with Elevated Privileges?
2. Boot into Safe mode and THEN uninstall all the AMD drivers with DDU - then boot back into normal mode and try installing as Administrator (right-click on the executable and run as administrator)
3. Re-download the drivers in case the file is corrupted (it happens to the best of us)
4. Make sure you download the right drivers for i) Your card is supported & ii) For your Windows version (especially 32 or 64-bit)

That was the first thing i tried, unfortunately there was no effect, I've also been browsing other forums as well and apparently I'm not the only one with this issue. I'm thinking DDU wasn't updated yet to fully detect all the features of the new drivers. It might be leaving residual files preventing me from properly updating. In any case considering I'm not the only one, this is probably an AMD issue and they might roll out a fix for it. At this point i think i should wait, unless you or someone else can come up with an explanation and fix for this issue

Try this:
http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Clean-Uninstall-Utility.aspx

It is the official AMD uninstall utility. Like you said DDU may be missing something.

Unfortunately, I tried that twice and still gave the same result. At this point, i really think AMD has to roll out a hotfix for it or something. I tried both the manual install and the AMD autodetect tool. Still nothing. Whenever I check the log it just says Display driver: Failed
HDMI Audio: Success
AMD settings: Success

Could be something wrong with the drivers afterall and not something that you are doing... It happens often with the latest drivers - bugs creep up (both NVIDIA and AMD)... Did you check the AMD forums or report the issue so they can look into it.
