The photo of this motherbord is bizarre. It has 6 DDR slots on the let and 7-8 DDR slot on teh rigth. Seven slots on the right are clearly visible and edge of the eight slot is there too.

6 DIMM slots for CPU1, CPU1, 6 DIMM Slots for CPU 1, 6 DIMM Slots for CPU 2, CPU 2, 6 DIMM Slots for CPU 2.

Would mean there are 12 slots next to each other, and explains why we can see, as you point out, 6 on the left and 8 on the right. The two right most on the right are for the other CPU.

Article says its a 2 socket board, so its possible that 6 left and 6 right. The other 2 are meant for another socket (there should be 12 slots in total to the right).
