I am building a 1080p gaming pc with the intention of comfortably running unoptimised bs games like pubg and also very well made games like witcher and battlefield at some very decent frames / settings compromise. To my understanding the best choice on my badget will be a 1060 which I am gona pair with a ryzen 5. I wonder however what is the amd equivalent to the gtx 1060 and if its worth it or not

Solution
Actually, RX 580 is the equivalent of 1060 6GB. In most games, they both trade bows and 580 wins in some games, 1060 wins in others. Difference is not much except maybe GTA V. RX 570 is pretty close. Take a look at the following reviews to know more about what I am saying.

Also, IMO, you can never guess the performance of a card on an unoptimised game correctly. Some people will get good FPS in such games, while others with the same card may get worse or better depending on the other hardware components.

The issue with the AMD cards is that most of them have been snatched by the crypto miners which has increased their prices almost everywhere. If you can get them at equal prices of those of 1060s, then its worthwhile to get them...

Even then, keep in mind that RX 580 has a slightly higher power requirement than the 1060, which is probably why people prefer to buy a 1060 as it runs cooler than a 580, draws less power and is equal in performance depending n the game.
