Hi Guys,

I'm a long time AMD follower finally looking at going for an Intel as convinced by a friend. Please let me know what you think of the system. My budget is around £1000 and I'm happy for any suggestions at all really.

ok, by right clicking I was able to open it a new tab and see it

First, you have a 1155 motherboard and a 1150 chip. They won't work. you need to switch one of them to be compatible.

Second, that PSU is way more power than you need.

Third, I'd wait a bit on getting an AMD card and see when the new R series is released. Yes, some of them are refreshed 7000 series, but still, the refresh is usually better, more tweaks, runs a bit better, etc. If you go the 280 or 290, it's a whole new chipset with Mantle API support, etc.

1. Your CPU and motherboard are not compatible. You will want a Z87 motherboard.

2. Add a CPU cooler if you want to try overclocking. The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO is a good one.

The R9 280X actually performs slower than the 7970GHz (see Tom's review). A bit disappointed but curious to see how the 290s will fare.

Cool thanks for the advice so far. Wasn't 100% on the socket (being only AMD before) , and the PSU in which case if you reckon the 650W will be ok saves me a bit of money as I already have 650W! :)

Also, I have an Arctic Pro II CPU cooler at the moment. Looks very similar to the one you suggested.

Please see the revised build below. used a different image host so hopefully looks better.

Sexy :). And conforms to my AMD lust. My Original build had the FX-8350. However all of the Benchmarks that I could find, the i-5 kicked the crap out of it in gaming performance? 🙁

Tell me that i'm wrong and i'll gladly consider the above! 😀 Great price for the SSD!

Recently bf4 received a patch, multicore performance got increased a lot.

Generaly i think the upcoming games are taking advantage from multicores.
