AMD FX 4300 bottlenecking GTX 960?

I have an AMD FX 4300 and a GTX 960 and am running into the issue of my CPU being brought to almost 100% usage. I'm fairly certain my GPU is being bottlenecked significantly by my CPU, but just wanted to make sure. I'm looking to buy an FX 8350 soon, as that is the best CPU my AM3 motherboard can support. Power isn't an issue, I have an 850W PSU.

For most games, the FPS difference between the FX4300 and the 8320 is next to nothing. You'll see some boost, but nothing much. Meaning if you are getting ~30FPS now, moving to the 8320 won't get you 60FPS.

While the 4300 isn't on there, the older (and slower.) 4170 is. In Crysis 2 the 8350 gets 35.4FPS, while the 4170 got 33.1. So like I said, you'll get a boost but nothing worth spending ~$100 on. I agree with SR-71. It's time to upgrade the machine. New board, CPU, RAM, etc.

Edit: Here is a better, newer review.

Notice in some of the games they are all basically the same. (BF4, Dying light, etc.)...

The problem is that I don't think there are any AM3 socket Ryzen or Intel processors. Do you know of any, or are you suggesting I should just buy a new motherboard as well?

Notice in some of the games they are all basically the same. (BF4, Dying light, etc.) There were two games where the 8350 was noticeably faster. Dirt Rally and GTA5. For these two games you are looking at being 20-30% slower than the 8350. I would argue in neither case are you being held back from from an important level. (60FPS, 120/144FPS.) Both CPUs manage to hit 60FPS in both games, and neither CPU hit the next level up, 120/144FPS. So you could spend the money and yes, get a faster CPU. But you still aren't maxing out your 144Hz monitor, nor finally get above 60FPS in a game. At least with the ones they tested.
