AMD FX-4300 (OC) 4.4ghz running Minecraft (and other CPU intensive games) terribly.

So about 6 months ago, i decided to build myself a budget oriented gaming PC. I decided to go with the AM3+ platform so I was pretty much stuck with FX. I had thought before purchasing the 4300 (after hearing positive feedback on overclocking) that it would suit me just fine. Well here we are in 2018 and it cant touch 400 frames in Minecraft of all games! Mind you I am running an overclocked 1050ti. I thought maybe this was to be expected from a single threaded game like this! I proved myself wrong by loading the same tests up on an Intel i7 7700K system (with a 1060, same base and boost MY card has) and sure enough... it was glued to 1000. Can anyone shed some light on this situation? Thanks.

You say straight out you built a budget computer, that's not a computer you can compare to something with a 7700 in it. The 7700 is certainly not a budget CPU.

I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers from, 400fps/1000fps, it sounds kind of arbitrary to me. You put together a system, then you test it to make sure it's working right. Then when you run your games you get the framerate that you get. You don't get to just pick a number, like 400fps, and get mad because the computer won't deliver that. You built a budget gaming computer remember? Excessive framerate is a luxury not a given.
You say other games, but don't go into detail about that. Going just from what you say, I'm not seeing any kind of actionable problem here; a 7700k is much better than an FX-4300, a 1060 is much better than even an indentically clocked 1050ti, and 400 fps is well past the point where additional frames per second result in any real-world difference.

For one thing why are you stuck on FPS numbers?

60hz monitor.. 60 fps is your target
120hz monitor.. 120 fps is your target
144hz monitor.. 144 fps is your target

400fps.. 1000 fps.. it really doesn't mean squat. Minecraft is a CPU bound game and the IPC difference between a FX chip and a 7700K is more than 50% so yeah a 7700K is going to run circles around anything on AM3+ in everything.
