Hey there.

I just upgraded my motherboard from an ASUS M5A78L-M LX3 to Asrock 990X Extreme 3.

The thing is, with the ASUS mobo, the cpu was about 35-37C at idle temp, and 54-55C at full load with prime95.

Now, after the mobo change, it rusn at about 45C Idle, at reaches about 67C Full load.

Why is that? Note that the asus had a 4 pin connector CPU connector, while the Asrock has a 8 pin one.

I am using Corsair H50 Watercooling.

Here is a photo of the HWMonitor:

Are you overclocked? When you switched your motherboard, you need to put new thermal paste on the cooler as well in case some has come off. Also try reseating your CPU. That cooler is barely sufficient to run that processor at stock settings.

+1 for Andrew's recommendation to reapply the TIM.

Also, some motherboards default to too high a voltage, especially if the BIOS isn't updated or the overclocking settings are left on 'Auto'. Set everything to stock settings and see if you temps are better.

Thnx for your answner. I already reaplied the thermal paste, after of course cleaning the previous one thoroughly.
And no, I am not overclocked, it is at stock clocks. What you mean I should reseat my CPU? Also, whatercooling Corsair H50 is not enough?

Take the CPU out of the socket and place it back in. Make sure no debris is there. Also, check for dust. Dust can cause major heat issues in the form of the VRM temperature radiating the socket, which in turn, radiates the CPU itself. The H50 is barely enough for that processor. Try running Prime95 and see what your voltages and temperatures are.

I reseated my CPU, applied a new thermal paste, with no actual effect.

What CPU cooler should I buy for my Prossecor? Also I am considering overclocking, so I would like to purchase a good cooler once and for all. Thank you.

Depending on your budget, there are some good options, like this:

This is also expandable, so you could also cool your GPU :)

My case (CoolerMaster K380) doesn't have room for a double radiator like this one. Maybe I should look for custom external watercooling?
