I've been thinking about upgrading my AMD FX 6200 to the FX 8350 but I want
to know if the upgrade is worth it? I Would use it for games such as Battlefield 4
and so far my FPS in BF4 has been low, I've read because its a CPU heavy game.

So will the AMD FX 8350 worth buying and will it make a real big difference In BF4
And other CPU intensive games over the FX 6200?

CPU (current) - AMD FX 6200
GPU - Visiontek Radeon HD 7970
RAM - 8GB Corsair Vengeance (2x4)
Motherboard - ASUS M5A88V-EVO
PSU - NZXT Hale-90 750W 80+ Gold

OS - Windows 8.1 Pro

I honestly don't think you would notice much of a difference. If you upgrade your basically just adding 2 more cores and 200 MHz to your CPU. That really isn't worth the $200 price tag. The IPC jump from Bulldozer to Vishera isn't enough to justify the upgrade.

Thank you for the direct answer! Very helpful!

I really don't think its worth the $200+ to get an FX-8350 if you already have a -6200. Check the hierarchy chart that this very site puts out. They recommend three tiers' improvement for an upgrade to be big enough to justify its cost. I say overclock for now, and if you still absolutely must get a new one, the Core i5/i7s are your best hope.

All that being said, what do you consider "low FPS" in BF4? What is your monitor resolution?

I'm aware that Battlefield 4 can 'use' a lot of cores, but until someone actually shows something empirical I remain extremely skeptical that eight cores, rather than six, is going to make some massive framerate difference in that game. I'm running BF4 on an old Core i5-750 (and a vastly slower video card than yours) at 1080p and I'm usually hovering around 60 FPS.

I recommend you try the FX-8320 instead. It's roughly $40 - $70 cheaper for the same architecture and core count, just a lower clock speed. You can overclock it yourself to 4.0 GHz quite easily and you'll have the same performance as an FX-8350 for about $40 - $70 less. Bulldozer is a shit architecture, and Piledriver is leagues better. I hear it's roughly 15% - 20% better in benchmarks (though that could prove to be less of the case in games). Still, if you have the money for the FX-8320 ($130 - $150) it may prove to be well worth it in certain games.

However, benchmarks vary greatly for BF4. In some cases, benchmarks say that between an FX-4100 and an FX-8350, there's merely a 1-2 fps difference. In other cases, the difference between the two are massive. Here's what it could be (assume a best case scenario where your CPU is equivalent to the FX-8150):

Yes, these are benchmarks from the retail copy of the game, but as I said, these things vary greatly from one benchmark to the next. I say overall, if you have the money for the FX-8320, go for it.

That sounds good! but Money isn't the issue I want my BF4 to run better at any cost! I just want to know if I buy a 200$ CPU that it will work better than what I have? I am also thinking if it would be worth buying an Intel 4770K
will that make a noticeable difference?

I made basically the same upgrade (6200 to 8320) and my FPS has doubled in CPU-dependent games and I've seen a decent increase in other games too.

The leap from bulldozer (x1xx, x2xx) to piledriver (x3xx) is huge.

I Just received and installed my new AMD FX 8350 and on top of that i kinda went all out and bought an Asus Sabertooth 990FX Rev2.0, Now my FX 8350 is running very well at 4.3GHz, Very Noticeable Difference in Battlefield 4, World of Tanks, and on top of that everything in Windows 8.1 Loads way faster!

Thanks for your help

Hi!
Ive see you have some question that i can give you my support. Honestly ive been working in coputer game´s allmost 18yrs since started intel 75Mhz as you can see. B4 or B3 its the most demanding games ever. if you have a low budjet around 300-500$
its will not enought to have some gamers PC. some adjusting u need use SSD samsung evo 240GB 540mb/r /530Mb/w and use DDR1600Mhz its will lift you sow far. dont use traditional HDD for all gamers ive prepare to use Intel i7 4cores or 6 cores. You need have Radiator cooler 50$ just to stablelize ur CPU Temp. need help? E-mai devera18@yahoo.com
