My original intention was to overclock my AMD fx 6300 to 4.5 Ghz, but judging from the following results, maybe I should be content with 4.3 Ghz or 4.4 Ghz.
My mobo is an ASUS M5A88-EVO and my cooler is a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 evo.
I have disabled all the features that could hinder the overclocking.
My results:
4.3 Ghz, 1 hour OCCT, VCore 1.422 V, temp < 45°C
4.4 Ghz, 2 hours OCCT, VCore 1.459 V, temp < 45°C
I think that my temps are really good, but that 1.459 V for the 4.4 Ghz case does not convince me too much. In the bios I have read that it can fluctuate between -0.03 and +0.05, so I could potentially hit 1.51V which is a little too near the safety limit of 1.55V for my tastes.
Maybe I am worrying too much and I should just go for the 4.4Ghz?
Now, I am going to run the tests on OCCT for 3 hours like the official website suggests. I was just checking what parameters in bios will probably result in a stable system.
