The Build:

CPU - AMD FX-6300
Video - Diamond 7870 2gb
OS - Windows 7
MB - ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
HD - Seagate 1TB
Memory - GSkill Ripjaw 4Gb x 4 (16Gb) @ 1600
Power - SeaSonic 560w
Case & Cooling - Corsair 540 Air, 3 140mm corsair, 3 noctua 120mm, one 230mm spectra.

Let me start by saying my temps are not the issue. Idle I sit around 29-31°C and 47°C (Unclocked) / 52°C (Overclocked to 4.2Ghz) under load.

The problem: I am using AI Suite to overclock while in windows just using multiplier and voltage increase. I have tried numerous different settings (voltage & multiplier) trying to get this clock to work successfully.

When I apply any type of overclock, be it 100Mhz or 1Ghz my system dramatically loses frame rate. Normally while playing BF4 on Ultra I have 60fps with zero issues. My GPU will run at 90-98% and CPU will run all cores about 60%, but after any type of overclock the GPU only runs at 40-50% and the CPU almost maxes. Ive tried multiple voltages, BIOS settings, HPC off and on, windows hot fixes and still nothing changes.

The question: Why is it that as soon as I up my CPU the smallest fraction does my GPU no longer take priority (for lack of a better word)? I can have BF4 open in windowed mode and watch as I apply any increase and my frames instantly drop.

If I am forgetting any information please ask me.

Solution
sounds strange. i agree with kgrevemberg oc in the bios ( not hard on that mobo i have the same) and maybe get a bigger psu.

i have a very similar set up only differences being i have a 7770 gfx card and a 620w psu . when i oc i get instant improvements to skyrim fps.

best try a bios oc first as its definitely the easier option . if you need any help with navigating the menus etc. i can help
