Solution
Which is correct as you did a software overclock. The only overclock that would hold is if you did it in the BIOS.

So this is good, no longer overclocked (keep it that way).

How are your temperatures now. Have you tried AMD Overdrive like I said to check the temps (its the most accurate way)?
At idle, a properly mounted cooler should show 10-15c. over ambient.
Perhaps a bit higher for a FX and stock cooler.

Remount the cooler.
Clean off the old paste.
Use only a small rice grain sized drop of new paste in the center.
It will spread out under heat and pressure.
Too much will act as an insulator and be worse; it is hard to use too little.

Make certain that the cooler is on square.

Iam using speccy. shows all my temperatures for my hardware. and a couple months ago i overclocked to 3.8ghz the stock is 3.5

so your saying my mother board isnt good for my cpu? should i change motherboards?

Ok the first thing you need to do is disable that overclock. That board should not ever be used to overclock an FX processor, the power phase can't handle it. Its possible you even did some damage along the way. And yes that motherboard is not good for any higher powered 6 or 8 core FX processor, and definitely not for overclocking one.

Second download AMD Overdrive

Check your temps in there. The temp in there is based off the thermal limit (the max temp of your processor), so the higher number the better. Let us know what that number is. AFTER you get rid of that overclock!

recently just went in amd catalyst control center and saw that my minumum clock speeds of the cpu were the same as my max. RIP. i changed it backed to default now i' m a little cooler i guess. also i dont really no how to go back to my stock clock speeds because i overclocked on a different os and now ive recently installed a new os on a new hdd, so maybe windows thinks my oveerclocked speed is my stock. Still trying to see if i can go back

What do you mean you overclocked on a different OS? If it was a software overclock it is gone. Or did you do it in your BIOS? You should go in and set your BIOS back to stock then if it may be set in there.

i overclocked it on amd catalyst on an old os. now iam on a different os and i recently just installed catalyst and shows no state of being overclocked.
