Hey guys,
I am thinking of buying AMD FX 6300
I just wanted to know whether this cpu will be able to play the games that come out in the next 4-5 years or will i need to upgrade my cpu

P.S.- I live in India. So the latest cpus might not be available in my country. So please answer accordingly.

From personal experience, i'd never get an i3 for gaming in 2015, the FX 6300 is old and slow, yet games like GTA 5 love cores, and fast cores, FX6300 has the room for GTA5 where the i3 chokes along with its superior single core performance it just doesn't have enough cores for some of todays games, making future proofing not a thing with it as DX12 may help, but it wont kick off anytime soon, Hyper threading only counts for around 20% of a core at best, thats in games the can take advantage of it.

Honestly I'd get the i5 or an i7, and a k model of top of that to sqeeze the extra performance out of it later on, I'd skip AMD for now, and wait for Zen or get your self a 4th gen i5 or i7 or a 6th gen i5 or i7.

Again my personal...

It barely plays modern games, the FX architecture is ancient and is simply not cut out for gaming.
You are much better off purchasing a i3 4170 or the new i3 when skylake comes out.

i3s just have 2 cores. How is it gonna be better than FX's 6 cores ??
Please explain !!:??:

The FX has more cores but each core is very slow. The i3 only has 2 cores, but each core is much faster. I hope this makes sense. Plus, the i3 4170 has hyperthreading, which means it creates virtual cores. So 2 physical cores turns into 4 cores. Sure, 2 physical + 2 virtual cores is slower than a 4 core cpu, but the speed of individual core make up for it. What is your budget for a new cpu?

The i3 has 2 cores but because of hyper threading it acts like it has 4 virtual cores.
The i3 has a much better per core power compared to the FX 6300, the FX 6300 is one of the worst CPU's you could possibly buy if you want to use it for a while.
The i3 performs as good as the FX 8350 and it has a more stable fps compared to it.

yeah do not buy a fx 6300. Professionally speaking you can't let AMD get away with its lack of development, and continue to support a company not innovating.
That being said a i5 4690 or 4690K will be the best option. the next step is than a 4790 and 4790K in that order
that will be the best option. Those are definitely available

For that price range the
i3 4170 or i5 4460 will be good for the price.

Again my personal preference, and 1st hand experience with 3 different models of the i3.

Thanks Viking2121, I will get i5 4570. can you tell me about it's performance ??
Thanks again

Go with an I5 i have a FX 6300. Can't say it is complete crap. But can't see it. Running some of the newer games all that well. Just don't get the I3 two core processors have had their time even with hyper threading.

Yeah the FX6300 still has enough grunt to play most modern games maxed out paired with a decent GPU, anyone who has played around with 1 would know, Heck even a FX4100 can do quiet will with most games, Its older I agree, but I still have yet to find a game I can't max out on my FX 8320 dispite its lower IPC. Core i3 is nice and can play most games quiet well, and supersizes me but I seen a few games where the i3 will struggle in or get sub par FPS bottlenecking the GPU in some situations where even the AMD CPU would accel at, Thats why I recommend a quad core i5 to put himself over what AMD offers.

Only games I kind have issues with is DayZ SA but even a 5960x is going to have issues in cities, Got a friend with an i7 5960x at 4.5ghz and 2x Titan X's and DayZ gets FPS the really close to a stock FX 8350 in that game which is sad.

The i5 4570 is a good choice and will last ya quiet some time, and future games that like cores will benefit more from the i5 then a i3.

Thanks Viking 2121 !!
Helped me a lot
:wahoo:
