well the fx-6300 was made in 2012 and is still sold on almost all pc vendors sites? what's up with that? I know cpu's last longer/become outdated slower than gpu's but is the 6300 obsolete? also will any new chips be made for am3+ sockets? also I know amd is doing apu's now... will they make a new line up of performance/gaming cpu's? I have heard about zen cpu's from amd but is that true? if so will they be like fx chips? I am worried that I will have to go the intel rout eventfully and if amd is gone there prices will skyrocket!! thank you!

The 6300 is aging, but its by no means obsolete. Its still a fairly decent processor for the price.
Take the Phenom IIs for example, my 965 was released in 09, and I still play games on ultra.

There is no plans to continue the AM3+ socket.
AMD has started to withdraw from the mainstream performance market, but I doubt this is the last we will see of them.

Overall, Intel just has much better options performance wise. AMD has the budget market covered.

Honestly AMD is trying to do right by the FX users they even worked with Microsoft and made directx 12 multi core. They are pushing their CPUs to the limits and yes the AMD FX 6300 is old bu in no way is a bad processor I think that it still can keep up for a good 2 or 3 solid years
