Amd FX-6350 or Intel Pentium G4560

Solution
Pentium hands down.
Not only would it offer better performance, it also has a much better upgrade path compared to the nonexistent one of the FX.
They will have chips down in the "low" end of the market too, it's not all $500 high end stuff.

There are some reports of the 4 core processors as low as $120.

Depending on how much you're spending on motherboards $180/190 for a brand new 4 core system that's overclockable is nothing to be sniffed at. And if the coolers end up being anywhere near the wraith cooler, there's no real need for a custom cooler.

G4560 is $65 and the B250 boards are around $70 too, so it ends up being roughly;

$135 for 2 core 4 threads

or $180ish for 4 core 4 threads and overclockable

Don't get me wrong the G4560 seems to be the budget king for dual core gaming, stonking little chip. But how for how much longer 2 cores will last you for gaming will remain to be seen.

Don't mind that guy... I think he's living in 2006

They're decent for gaming, and pretty cheap. Considering how cheap the CPU and mobo are, you could easily swap them later for Ryzen.

It would be a literal waste of money, in my opinion.

At least with the G4560 he's on the correct socket and RAM type for direct upgrade paths, for effectively the same price and more single threaded performance..

That's why a Ryzen 4c might make sense.. But honestly, i'm an AMD guy, I like AMD chips, but noone should really be buying anything built on the Steamroller architecture.

From what i've seen the AMD A12 9800 Ryzen based APU might be good for budget gaming, competing at console speeds but I don't know the prices or how it would perform in comparison.

Well, maybe, but if he needed the PC now, and he's going AMD, why not go all the way? With DX12, AMD CPUs get a nice bump. I like seeing AMD GPUs with AMD CPUs.

I see where you're coming from, and yeah, I think he should wait at this point. The thing is, if he needed a PC now, I think he should go with the whole AMD build. With the AMD DX12 boost, he should be pretty much set.

i'll buy g4560 for now, for about 10 months i will upgrade to i5. Does somebody know good cheap motherboard for g4560 + rx 460 ? When i say cheap, i mean for about 50-75$. I live in very weak country, a lot of people have computer of 50$.
